This weekend has brought the end of a decade long "manhunt!" News spread fast Sunday night of Osama bin Laden's death by US forces.
As one of the biggest news stories of the year, every news outlet has began their barrage of 10% useful reporting and 90% useless re-puking of the same big story and the even always predictable email scams. The news of the leader's death even broke Twitter "tweet" records averaging 3,000 "tweets" per second and was helped by an unsuspecting gentleman tweeting about attack helicopters at 1am! You can even watch a cellphone video of the compound of where the supposed event took place.
Multiple news outlets reported that this has been a strategic strike in the making for the better part of a year with full scale tactical replicas of the bin Laden compound. Yeah, we had time to build replicas! Furthermore it was stated that President Obama and his staff knew of bin Laden's location for quite a while (as in he lived there for over 5yrs!) and that the easy thing would have been to bomb the living hell out of the compound but that the bold president made the "hard choice" to make sure we got the right guy...
To this I say bull! There have been many Al Qaeda leaders that the US has bombed to sub-atomic dust using Preditor drones, and their "sense-through-the-wall" technology, without ever getting up close and personal to take a DNA sample... Over the last ten years, there have been multiple reports of the US military surrounding Osama and conveniently leaving gaping holes to which convoys of militants were able to "sneak" through.
My theory is that the US military and other forces have been following and tracking his movements through the terrorist cells and various splinter groups; gathering intelligence and valuable informants. Once he lost his value as a tracked source, we took him out... OR could it be that the timing just so happened to coincide with the fact that Obama recently announced he'll be running for reelection when his poll numbers have been dropping!
...just saying...
PS: We gave him a proper Muslim burial!? WTF Obama!
Ever get that feeling when you're at home and you live in a city with 300,000+ people... but you just can't seem to find anything to do? Seems like I've kinda hit that point with the internet today!
It's like you have three options 1) Ride the social networking train, 2) Realize that the social train is just as boring as watching water boil and try to be creative (in my line of work that reads: work) or you can 3) harvest your corn fields to pay for the magic kiwi upgrade on some random Zynga game.
Help me out, what sorts of things are you doing on the inter-tubes that you have found useful and creative to mix up your online experience?
I have decided that I am just going to make zachjeffers.com a blog. Nothing too fancy, just somewhere to post my thoughts and the things that make me different from you...
